The following class options are designed to provide high-quality training and extracurricular fun to young artists of all interests and skill levels. The Studio staff is comprised of industry professionals who have a passion for teaching and are committed to creating a supportive, inclusive space for students.

SUMMER SCENE STUDY - HIGH SCHOOL

1 Week, Monday-Friday, 10a.m.-4p.m.,  July 23-27

440 STUDIOS, 440 LAFAYETTE ST.,

Ages 14-18 (High School/Early College)

$600

**A $300 non-refundable deposit is required to hold a spot in the class**

An intensive workshop that culminates in a final performance at The Black Box Theater at 440 Studios. Students will explore advanced acting exercises such as sensory memory, personal moment, emotional memory, improvisation and text analysis and then apply that work to exciting scripted material. Through the study of challenging scenes/monologues and exploration of complex characters, participants will learn to achieve rich, natural, and emotionally-connected acting on stage. Guest instructors will teach students a variety of acting essentials: ensemble building, stage combat, film/tv acting, etc. 

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR STUDENTS INTERESTED IN APPLYING FOR PERFORMING ARTS SUMMER PROGRAMS AND COLLEGES.

Summer scene study - middle school

**A $325 non-refundable deposit is required to hold a spot in the class**

A youth theater ensemble dedicated to the development and performance of new works focused on the challenges facing young people today. Actors will participate in intensive team building, technique training, free writing and play craft. Membership is open to teens of all-genders interested in fusing arts and activism. Artists will attend all-female or all-male creative sessions, while also coming together to further explore chosen subject matter and build material. Learn more.

An all-girl theater ensemble dedicated to the creation of original feminist theater pieces and projects that reflect what it means to be a girl growing-up today. Actors will participate in intensive team building, technique training, free writing and script craft. The Howling Girls Ensemble serves as a safe, nurturing, empowering space for girls to come together and share their voices.

Ages 5 - 9 (Elementary School)

Students of all levels are taught the A to Zs of auditioning. How to adjust when you're in front of a camera. How to behave in an audition waiting room. How to self-tape. What's a cold read? What's the difference between a commercial and a legit audition? What's a slate? Of course, the basis of any good audition is good technique. Kids will explore the technique basics - sense memory, character and scene study, improvisation. Mock auditions will be recorded and sent to parents.
